Medi-Sign: An Introductory Online Course in American Sign Language for Medical Practitioners

A group of doctors and representatives from the Deaf community worked with S.E.E.K. to create a comprehensive diagnostic course in American Sign Language (ASL) for health care purposes. S.E.E.K. would now like to offer Medi-Sign at no cost to the health care community throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Medi-Sign is an online course in medical ASL designed to help the following professionals better serve the Deaf community.

The Medi-Sign course presents occupationally specific ASL by offering the type of language found in daily health care communication. Thecourse’s content was compiled from data collected from medical personnel throughout the U.S. and Canada. It is structured to offer medical sign language vernacular involved in typical diagnostic and health care professional/patient communication.

Medi-Sign combines practical daily medical sign language with a methodical introduction to ASL grammar and structure.
